Digging holes

Digging holes

The information in this article only applies to UNIZ Dental V2.5.1.9, other versions may have some different user interfaces and operations.

When do we need to dig holes

After hollowing the models, it's crucial to add drainage holes on the bottom of the models. These holes allow uncured resin to escape and prevent the creation of vacuum pockets or pressure build-up that could cause print failures or defects.

Steps

  1. Digging holes
In Edit interface, click Hole, and select position of holes on the bottom of the model, then click Apply.
Tips: For certain applications, such as thermoforming clear aligner, the wall thickness of hollow models should be greater than 3mm, and the hole thickness should be greater than the wall thickness.

  1. Checking
After digging the holes, drag the bar on the right side to check if the holes are correct.
