Fitting Adjustment

This article applies to NBEE, SLASH 2 PLUS, NBEE D, NBEE H, NBEE J, UBEE

Not obtaining a good fitting?

The purpose of the compensation values (internal and external) is to micro adjust the model in order to compensate for shrinkage or expansion during post-processing (mainly UV curing). You’ll be working on adjusting these values when you need something to be accurate or a tight/loose fit.

You will likely do this for things that require high precision for fittings (example: screws, axles, pegs etc)

Preparation

Calibration tools: teeth, screws, axles etc.
Note: The calibration may take several times to find the best value, and validate the result after curing.

How to adjust

If the geometry of the printed part is closed, or sealed
Please try adjusting the internal/external compensation value to normal layer or initial layer
  1. If it is a loose fit, turn the value up, it would get tighter
  2. If it is a tight fit, turn the value down to make it loose.

Take below picture for example, the fitting on the top is too tight, there are two ways to adjust:
  1. Adjust the model hole (fitting position is sealed structure)
Make internal compensation to normal layer bigger, fit is getting loose
  1. Adjust the teeth (fitting position is open structure)
Make external compensation to normal layer bigger, fit is getting loose.
Noted: When adjusting the fitting, you may consider to combine “external” and “internal” to get the best outcome.

If the geometry of the printed part is open,
Please try adjusting the external compensation value to normal layer or initial layer
  1. Make external compensation to normal layer bigger, fit is getting loose, vice versa.
The above method does not apply to models that have different orientations in the fitting positions, such as vertical and horizontal orientations present together.

Take below as an example, the fitting is not smooth, it is a little bit tight when moving handpiece left to right.
  1. Adjust the guide (fitting position is open structure)
Make external compensation to normal layer bigger, fit is getting loose.
