Maintenance tips—build platform maintenance

This article applies to NBEE , NBEE H , NBEE D.

Why maintenance?

The build platform is crucial in 3D printers because it supports and secures printing materials, directly affecting printing accuracy and quality. Regular maintenance ensures print flatness, reduces print failures and maintenance, and extends equipment life.

Build platform material type

Aluminum plate

  1. Aluminum base plate, steel brushed surface treatment, suitable for printing with all non-ceramic type resins.

Steel plate

  1. Steel bottom plate with sandblasting surface treatment, suitable for printing high-viscosity resin.

How to maintain

1. Cleaning

  1. Before Printing: Ensure cleanliness without foreign objects.
  1. After Printing: Use a scraper or U Detach to remove the printed part, then spray with alcohol or IPA. Wipe the bottom plate of the build platform, the frame, and the back of the plate with a dry paper towel, kitchen paper, or lint-free cloth. See video tutorial How to clean the build platform.
Note: It is recommended to use U Detach to avoid plate scratching.

2. Leveling

  1. When you receive a brand new printer, there is no need to do ZERO&LEVEING (recalibrate the ZERO position). The new printer has been precisely calibrated before leaving the factory.
  2. When replacing the build platform, ZERO&LEVEING is required.
  3. If printing encounters the problem of printed parts falling off, it may need to be solved by doing ZERO&LEVEING.
  4. When leveling, avoid slippage caused by over-tightening the leveling screws.

3. Replacing

  1. The build platform was broken, causing the bottom plate to be uneven and the build platform needs to be replaced.
  2. Replacing the build platform requires ZERO&LEVEING.

4. Sanding

  1. Using the build platform for a long time will cause the surface of the bottom plate to be smooth and reduce the adhesion. The adhesion can be increased by sanding. Please refer to the video tutorial: How to sand the build platform.

Conclusion

Through the above introduction, you should understand why, when and how to perform overall maintenance on the printer's build platform. If you have any questions, please contact support@uniz.com for more support.
