The printed part is partially missing, forming cone-shaped missing.
Printed part partial missing
Possible
Causes
The LED light power and/or exposure time is insufficient
The LCD screen protector film has scratches or resin residue and
looks blurry
Resin tank film damage and/or dirt
Resin properties are not suitable
Slicing file error
The light transmittance of the LCD screen is uneven
To avoid printing failure caused by operational errors, please refer to Printing Tips & Cautions
Diagnostic
Steps
After printing fails, clean the residue on the build platform and in the resin tank to avoid affecting the next printing and damaging the LCD screen
The LED light power and/or exposure time is insufficient Diagnosis: If the light intensity and/or exposure time is insufficient, layers
will not be cured completely, as a result, the connections between layers may
not be strong enough causing partial missing.
Solution: Increase the LED light power and/or exposure time accordingly.
Increase LED light power and/or exposure time
The LCD screen protector film has scratches or
resin residue and looks blurry Diagnosis: The scratches or resin residue affect the passage of the UV light,
and layers cannot be cured completely, as a result, the connection between layers
may not be strong enough causing partial missing. Solution: Change the LCD protector film. Reference: How to change LCD screen protector film
Resin tank film damage and/or dirt Diagnosis: Any damage and/or dirt of the resin tank film
such as scratch, clouding, deformation may block or deviate the collimated UV
light, that reduce the light intensity making the layers can not be cured
completely, causing partial missing. Solution: Make sure the resin tank film is in
good condition. If there is damage, the film needs to be replaced. Reference article: How to change resin tank film
Resin properties are not suitable Diagnosis: Some cured resin cannot be separated from resin tank film during printing, and is continuously pulled, resulting in a cone-shaped missing. Solution: Check the shelf life of the resin and use UNIZ resin or third party validated resin by UNIZ within the warranty period for printing. Stir the resin well before printing.
Slicing file error
Diagnosis: The model data error may be caused by the design or slicing software.
Solution: Check the slicing file with UNIZ Dental V2, make sure all layers are well connected, without suspended layers or points.
Suspended points
The light transmittance of the LCD screen is uneven Diagnosis: After the printer is used for several years, the light intensity and LCD screen light transmission uniformity may change, in some areas relatively with lower light intensity, layers may cannot be cured completely, resulting in partial missing. Solution: Validate the LCD screen light transmittance uniformity with the help of UNIZ technical personnel, if the light transmittance is not qualified, change the LCD screen. The light intensity meter is needed for the varification of
the LCD screen, DO NOT stare directly at UV light with your naked eyes when verifyring. Please contact support@uniz.com for more help.
Conclusion
The partial missing print failure may occur in any printer of any brand, by following the above-mentioned diagnostic steps, you should be able to troubleshoot the partial missing issue, if the problem persists, please contact support@uniz.com.
